This is an eye-catching book from the cover to the titles. I love the various characters and the variety of magical scenes in the stories.
Who couldn't fall in love with a quirky witch who flies with her Poo Boom cat on the back of her broom with a kink in the handle? The Pixie Hollow Heroes, are two boys who find more excitement than they can handle when they fall into a mirror and drop into another realm. The stray was a talking dog with attitude. The Fart Fairy had me giggling. There were concerts in the backyard and a cute cat called Sunshine who saved the day. Tabitha finds a treasure in a box full of junk. Jeremy Albatros builds a rocket with recycled op shop junk. The Quoggle is a firm friend. The handsome but lonely woodcutter has his heart melt with love for a little baby. Theo the orange octopus wants to wake board and he gets his wish! Dougie dreams of being a soccer star even though he thinks he can't. There's a Fright Night, Trees alive in the backyard and much more.
This is a terrific book for young children to read themselves, or for parents to read to them.
I hope you ask your little ones to colour in the Quoggle. The Activity
Prize Kit is great and it includes a copy of Backyard Beasts & Curious Capers.
Happy reading - Jill, coordinator, The Ten Penners
